The audiovisual archives from 1900 to present
The IOC collects, preserves, uses and restores the collections of animated images and audio documents concerning the Olympic Movement.
The use of animated images is possible thanks to two montage control rooms and virtual montage stations (broadcast quality), sound recording booths, and viewing booths, using state-of-the-art technology.
The department works closely with the Olympic Television Archive Bureau (OTAB), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) organisation responsible for rights management administration procedure.
The collection contains over 32,000 hours of films and 6,000 hours of audio documents, notably on:

Access is restricted to researchers and professionals (agencies, television stations, production companies, etc.) upon written request (letter, fax or e-mail) and by appointment only.
Accessible documents: films (film or video) of the Games from 1900 to the present, Olympic meetings, portraits of Olympic Family personalities, thanks to the Museum Information System (SIM).
As the originals are preserved, only copies are provided. Therefore, it is useful to give a reasonable deadline to enable us to make copies.
All requests must be made in writing (letter, fax or e-mail) with the following information: services and documents required, support, format, delivery deadline, full address for invoicing.
Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The automated video library provides visitors to the Museum with personalised access to a selection of the archives. The Museum entrance ticket allows free viewing of two films.
