Supporting researchers interested in Olympism

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAMME

The IOC Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) has created an annual programme of grants intended for young researchers engaged in scholarly research on the Olympic Movement, its history and ideals, and the impact of the Olympic Games on the various aspects of contemporary society and culture.

Objectives

The programme has the following objectives:

  • - To encourage young researchers to undertake research on the Olympic phenomenon and in particular on priority fields of research (see the list in the further information below)
  • - To promote the consultation of the written and audio-visual IOC patrimony
  • - To encourage collaboration between young researchers from various cultures

Eligibility

This programme is open to all current postgraduate students (master's and doctoral candidates), and university professors who have completed their doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in the past five years and currently hold an academic appointment.

Selection Committee

The grant programme Selection Committee is composed of academic experts recognised world-wide for their research and publications on Olympism and OSC professionals.

Application procedures and deadline for 2009

Applications must be received by e-mail or post at the OSC (contact details indicated in the programme explanatory document) no later than 1 October 2008.
