The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has played an important role in the development of the culture and Olympic education agenda, by establishing a policy that seeks to provide greater resources to their promotion in and through sport at national, regional and international level, and particularly at the Olympic Games.
This policy has two main objectives:
It is based on the principles enshrined in the Olympic Charter (Fundamental Principles):
In the field of advocacy too, the IOC has launched a series of programmes and activities that contribute to raising awareness about the importance of culture and Olympic education. Such activities as World Forums, Art and Literature Competitions and Youth Camps are implemented in cooperation with several institutions, such as The Olympic Museum, Olympic Solidarity , International Olympic Academy, United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, International Pierre de Coubertin Committee and Organising Committees of the Olympic Games .
