ELECTION OF THE HOST CITY FOR 2014

Election of the host city of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014

On 4 July 2007, the 119th IOC Session will begin in Guatemala City. The main decision to be taken by the IOC members will be the election of the Host City for the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014. Sochi (Russia), Salzburg (Austria) and PyeongChang (Republic of Korea) - (cities are listed in the order of drawing of lots) were accepted by the IOC’s Executive Board in June 2006 as Candidate Cities to host the 2014 Winter Games. They were selected unanimously from a total of seven Applicant Cities which also included Jaca (Spain), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Borjomi (Georgia).
